Penquis Valley Patriots (Milo, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Stearns Minutemen (Millinocket, ME), 17-11 in a non-league challenge.
The Patriots now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Stearns for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 26.
With the loss, Stearns falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Minutemen travel to Penobscot Valley (Howland, ME) to battle the Howlers in a Class D North challenge on Monday, April 24. The Howlers enter the challenge with a record of 0-0.
