The Socastee Braves nipped the visiting Sumter Fighting Gamecocks softball squad by a final score of 17-16 in Monday's league battle.
The Braves (3-15) will now prepare for their battle against St. James (Murrells Inlet, SC). The Sharks go into the AAAAA Region 6 battle with a 12-3 record. In their last battle, St. James held off North Myrtle Beach (Little River, SC), 4-2, in a non-league battle.
The Fighting Gamecocks now possess a 10-12 record. They play next when they travel to Camden for a non-league battle on Wednesday, April 27. Sumter will meet a Bulldogs squad coming off a 10-3 league loss to Marlboro County (Bennettsville, SC). The Bulldogs record now stands at 10-5.
