Goreville Blackcats (Goreville, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Trico Pioneers (Campbell Hill, IL), 3-2 in a league challenge.

The Blackcats now own a 5-10 record. They take the field next when they travel to Hamilton County for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 27. Goreville will battle a Foxes squad coming off a 16-2 league win over Fairfield (Fairfield, IL). The Foxes record now stands at 14-6.

With the loss, Trico falls to 13-3 on the campaign. The Pioneers host Goreville (Goreville, IL) to battle the Blackcats in a Black Diamond West challenge on Thursday, April 28. The Blackcats enter the challenge with a record of 5-11. Goreville lost 11-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Hamilton County (McLeansboro, IL)
