Northside Vikings (Roanoke, VA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Blacksburg Bruins (Blacksburg, VA), 4-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Vikings now sport a 8-6 record. They take the field next when they host Fleming for a Blue Ridge challenge on Friday, April 29. Northside will face a Colonels squad coming off a 16-7 league loss to Northside (Roanoke, VA). The Colonels record now stands at 2-9.

With the loss, Blacksburg falls to 9-6 on the campaign. The Bruins travel to Salem (Salem, VA) to face the Spartans in a River Ridge challenge on Tuesday, May 3. The Spartans enter the challenge with a record of 9-6. Salem won 21-2 in their recent league challenge against Hidden Valley (Roanoke, VA)
