Fans at Thursday's league battle between the NCSSM: Morganton Dragons (Morganton, NC) and the visiting Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC), saw NCSSM: Morganton's soccer squad triumph over Mitchell by a count of 8-0.

The Dragons (8-2) will now prepare for their battle against Avery County (Newland, NC). The Vikings enter the Western Highlands 1A/2A battle with a 6-5 record. In their last battle, Avery County notched a victory over Mitchell (Bakersville, NC), 5-0, in a league battle.

Next up, the Mountaineers battle the Madison Patriots (Marshall, NC) in a Western Highlands 1A/2A battle, on Monday, April 7. Mitchell will attempt to upgrade on its 0-8 season record. The Patriots enter the battle with a 6-4 record after their 4-2 league win over Owen (Black Mountain, NC).
