Columbia Eagles (Columbia, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Roxana Shells (Roxana, IL), 7-6 in a league challenge.

The Eagles now own a 16-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to Freeburg for a Cahokia - Mississippi challenge on Thursday, May 2. Columbia will battle a Midgets squad coming off a 12-9 non-league win over Belleville West (Belleville, IL). The Midgets record now stands at 22-3.

With the loss, Roxana falls to 11-5 on the campaign. The Shells travel to Salem (Salem, IL) to battle the Wildcats in a Cahokia - Mississippi challenge on Thursday, May 2. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a record of 18-5. Salem won 2-0 in their recent league challenge against East Alton-Wood River (Wood River, IL)
