Spectators at Tuesday's non-league battle between the Clayton Comets (Clayton, NC) and the host South Johnston Trojans (Four Oaks, NC), saw Clayton's baseball squad knock off South Johnston by a count of 11-6.
Coming up next, the Comets play the Fuquay - Varina Bengals (Fuquay-Varina, NC) in a Greater Neuse River 4A battle, on Tuesday, April 11. Clayton will attempt to move on its 10-5 season record. The Bengals enter the battle with a 9-1 record after their 2-0 non-league win over Heritage (Wake Forest, NC).
The Trojans now possess a 6-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to West Johnston for a Quad County 3A battle on Tuesday, April 11. South Johnston will play a Wildcats squad coming off a 13-3 non-league loss to Cleveland (Clayton, NC). The Wildcats record now stands at 9-4.
