Aztec Tigers (Aztec, NM) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Miyamura Patriots (Gallup, NM), 7-2 in a league challenge.

The Tigers now own a 10-8 record. They take the field next when they host Shiprock for a 4A District 1 challenge on Tuesday, April 9. Aztec will battle a Chieftains squad coming off a 12-0 league loss to Bloomfield (Bloomfield, NM). The Chieftains record now stands at 5-7.

With the loss, Miyamura falls to 6-10 on the campaign. The Patriots host Kirtland Central (Kirtland, NM) to battle the Broncos in a 4A District 1 challenge on Tuesday, April 9. The Broncos enter the challenge with a record of 6-8. Kirtland Central lost 15-0 in their recent league challenge against Gallup (Gallup, NM)
