Ponaganset Chieftains (North Scituate, RI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Mount St. Charles Academy Mounties (Woonsocket, RI), 4-1 in a league challenge.

The Chieftains now own a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to North Providence for a Division 2 B challenge on Thursday, April 7. Ponaganset will battle a Cougars squad coming off a 20-6 league win over Woonsocket (Woonsocket, RI). The Cougars record now stands at 1-0.

With the loss, Mount St. Charles Academy falls to 1-2 on the year. The Mounties host Toll Gate (Warwick, RI) to clash with the Titans in a Division 2 B game on Thursday, April 7. The Titans come into the game with a record of 1-0. Toll Gate won 6-4 in their recent league game against Lincoln (Lincoln, RI)
