Hoxie Mustangs (Hoxie, AR) backers left the game pleased Tuesday as they saw their softball squad thwart the host Newport Greyhounds (Newport, AR), 18-3 in a league game.

With the triumph, Hoxie upgrades its record to 8-5 on the year. The Mustangs host Maynard (Maynard, AR) to play the Tigers in a non-league game on Thursday, April 10. The Tigers enter the game with a record of 6-3.

The Greyhounds now own a 0-8 record. They play next when they travel to Walnut Ridge for a 3A Region 3 game on Thursday, April 10. Newport will play a Bobcats squad coming off a 9-5 league win over Rivercrest (Wilson, AR). The Bobcats record now stands at 9-3.
