The Surry County Cougars softball team scored 14 runs and limited the host Northampton Yellowjackets to 7 in the Cougars non-league triumph on Monday.

With the triumph, Surry County moves its record to 7-6 on the year. The Cougars host Franklin (Franklin, VA) to clash with the Broncos in a Tri-Rivers game on Tuesday, May 2. The Broncos come into the game with a record of 0-12.

In their next game, the Yellowjackets clash with the Chincoteague Ponies (Chincoteague, VA) in a Eastern Shore game, on Tuesday, May 2. Northampton will attempt to move on its 5-4 season record. The Ponies come into the game with a 4-1 record after their 2-1 league win over Nandua (Onley, VA).
