The crowd at Thursday's non-league bout between the Ripley Vikings (Ripley, WV) and the visiting Capital Cougars (Charleston, WV), observed Ripley's softball team get by Capital by a tally of 5-1.

The Vikings (6-18) will now prepare for their bout against Winfield (Winfield, WV). The Generals go into the non-league bout with a 17-4 record. In their last bout, Winfield tipped Scott (Madison, WV), 8-0, in a non-league bout.

In their next game, the Cougars clash with the Parkersburg Big Reds (Parkersburg, WV) in a Mountain State bout, on Tuesday, May 6. Capital will attempt to advance on its 3-22 season record. The Big Reds go into the bout with a 4-12 record after their 10-3 non-league win over Midland Trail (Hico, WV).
