Rhode Island High School Softball - Portsmouth bounces Ponaganset

May 13, 2024: Portsmouth, RI 02871

The crowd at Monday's league match between the Portsmouth Patriots (Portsmouth, RI) and the visiting Ponaganset Chieftains (North Scituate, RI), saw Portsmouth's softball squad nip Ponaganset by a count of 7-3.

The Patriots now sport a 9-4 record. They take the field next when they host West Warwick for a Division 2 match on Wednesday, May 15. Portsmouth will face a Wizards squad coming off a 10-0 league win over Barrington (Barrington, RI). The Wizards record now stands at 10-3.

With the loss, Ponaganset falls to 10-2 on the campaign. The Chieftains travel to Burrillville (Harrisville, RI) to face the Broncos in a Division 2 match on Tuesday, May 14. The Broncos enter the match with a record of 1-10. Burrillville lost 14-4 in their recent league match against South Kingstown (Wakefield, RI)
