Staunton River Golden Eagles (Moneta, VA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting William Byrd Terriers (Vinton, VA), 9-3 in a league challenge.

The Golden Eagles now sport a 18-3 record. They take the field next when they host Franklin County for a Blue Ridge challenge on Friday, May 17. Staunton River will face a Eagles squad coming off a 6-2 league win over Lord Botetourt (Daleville, VA). The Eagles record now stands at 17-6.

With the loss, William Byrd falls to 11-14 on the campaign. The Terriers travel to Tunstall (Dry Fork, VA) to face the Trojans in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 22. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 10-8. Tunstall lost 6-4 in their recent league challenge against Halifax County (South Boston, VA)
