South Dakota High School Softball - Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy gets by Avon

The Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy got by the visiting Avon Pirates softball squad by a final score of 10-9 in Friday's league battle.

The (8-8) will now prepare for their battle against McCook Central/Montrose (Salem, SD). The Fighting Cougars go into the Class B battle with a 4-7 record. In their last battle, McCook Central/Montrose nudged Mt. Vernon/Plankinton (Mt. Vernon, SD), 15-12, in a league bout.

The Pirates now possess a 8-13 record. They play next when they travel to Dakota Valley for a non-league bout on Saturday, May 18. Avon will confront a Panthers squad coming off a 15-9 league loss to Vermillion (Vermillion, SD). The Panthers record now stands at 9-11.
