Gardiner Tigers (Gardiner, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Lincoln Academy Eagles (Newcastle, ME), 5-1 in a league challenge.

The Tigers now own a 6-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Morse for a Class B South challenge on Monday, May 20. Gardiner will face a Shipbuilders squad coming off a 8-4 league loss to Medomak Valley (Waldoboro, ME). The Shipbuilders record now stands at 1-11.

With the loss, Lincoln Academy falls to 5-8 on the campaign. The Eagles host Leavitt (Turner, ME) to face the Hornets in a Class B South challenge on Monday, May 20. The Hornets enter the challenge with a record of 10-2. Leavitt won 6-2 in their recent league challenge against Erskine Academy (South China, ME)
