Mountain Heritage Cougars (Burnsville, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC), 11-1 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 14-2 record. They take the field next when they host Draughn for a Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge on Tuesday, May 3. Mountain Heritage will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 8-7 league win over Madison (Marshall, NC). The Wildcats record now stands at 15-7.

With the loss, Mitchell falls to 1-14 on the campaign. The Mountaineers host Avery County (Newland, NC) to battle the Vikings in a Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge on Tuesday, May 3. The Vikings enter the challenge with a record of 1-11. Avery County lost 18-1 in their recent league challenge against Owen (Black Mountain, NC)
