Monticello Mustangs (Charlottesville, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Charlottesville Black Knights (Charlottesville, VA), 15-2 in a league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 9-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to William Monroe for a non-league challenge on Monday, May 6. Monticello will face a Dragons squad coming off a 12-2 non-league loss to Broadway (Broadway, VA). The Dragons record now stands at 6-6.

With the loss, Charlottesville falls to 0-15 on the campaign. The Black knights travel to Louisa County (Mineral, VA) to face the Lions in a Jefferson challenge on Tuesday, May 7. The Lions enter the challenge with a record of 13-3. Louisa County won 2-1 in their recent league challenge against Orange County (Orange, VA)
