Northeastern Clinton Cougars (Champlain, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Peru Nighthawks (Peru, NY), 8-7 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 7-3 record. They take the field next when they host Moriah for a Section 7 Champlain Valley I challenge on Monday, May 6. Northeastern Clinton will face a Vikings squad coming off a 14-4 league loss to Ticonderoga (Ticonderoga, NY). The Vikings record now stands at 1-9.

With the loss, Peru falls to 7-3 on the campaign. The Nighthawks host Ticonderoga (Ticonderoga, NY) to face the Sentinels in a Section 7 Champlain Valley I challenge on Monday, May 6. The Sentinels enter the challenge with a record of 10-1. Ticonderoga won 14-4 in their recent league challenge against Moriah (Port Henry, NY)
