South Salem Saxons (Salem, OR) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host McNary Celtics (Keizer, OR), 2-1 in a league challenge.

The Saxons now own a 12-8 record. They take the field next when they host North Salem for a 6A Central Valley challenge on Wednesday, May 8. South Salem will face a Vikings squad coming off a 17-2 non-league loss to Clackamas (Clackamas, OR). The Vikings record now stands at 0-23.

With the loss, McNary falls to 8-13 on the campaign. The Celtics travel to Sprague (Salem, OR) to face the Olympians in a 6A Central Valley challenge on Wednesday, May 8. The Olympians enter the challenge with a record of 11-13. Sprague lost 11-1 in their recent league challenge against West Salem (Salem, OR)
