In Wednesday's non-league game, the visiting Smithville Warriors baseball team scored a close 10-3 win over the Excelsior Springs Tigers.

The Warriors (25-3) will now prepare for their game against Winnetonka (Kansas City, MO). The Griffins go into the Class 5 District 8 game with a 10-14 record. In their last game, Winnetonka nudged Grandview (Grandview, MO), 5-2, in a non-league game.

Next, the Tigers play the Belton Pirates (Belton, MO) in a non-league game, on Thursday, May 8. Excelsior Springs will attempt to improve on its 18-10 season record. The Pirates go into the game with a 10-9 record after their 12-3 non-league loss to Fort Osage (Independence, MO).
