The crowd at Monday's non-league bout between the Simpson Academy Cougars (Mendenhall, MS) and the host Jackson Prep Patriots (Jackson, MS), observed Simpson Academy's softball team prevail over Jackson Prep by a tally of 12-0.

The Cougars (13-1) will now prepare for their bout against Laurel Christian (Laurel, MS). The Lions go into the non-league bout with a 4-1 record. In their last contest, Laurel Christian was routed by East Rankin Academy (Pelahatchie, MS), 2-1, in a non-league contest.

The Patriots now hold a 0-1 record.
