Vela Sabercats (Edinburg, TX) followers left the game satisfied Saturday as they saw their volleyball squad achieve victory over the visiting Weslaco Panthers (Weslaco, TX), 2-0 in a non-league test.

With the win, Vela advances its record to 2-1 on the season. The Sabercats host Pioneer (Mission, TX) to face the Diamondbacks in a 5A Region IV District 31 test on Tuesday, August 19. The Diamondbacks go into the test with a record of 0-1. Pioneer lost 2-1 in their recent non-league test against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial (Corpus Christi, TX)

The Panthers now sport a 3-4 record. They put it on the line next when they host Laredo LBJ for a non-league test on Tuesday, August 19. Weslaco will face a Wolves squad coming off a 2-1 non-league win over Harlandale (San Antonio, TX). The Wolves record now stands at 5-0.
