The Velma-Alma Comets edged the host Elmore City-Pernell Badgers softball squad by a count of 9-8 in Thursday's league challenge.
Next, the Comets play the Apache Warriors (Apache, OK) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, August 22. Velma-Alma will attempt to upgrade on its 4-5 season record. The Warriors enter the challenge with a 4-3 record after their 13-4 non-league win over Riverside Indian (Anadarko, OK).
The Badgers (2-7) will now prepare for their challenge against Chattanooga (Chattanooga, OK). The Warriors enter the Class A challenge with a 6-3 record. In their last challenge, Chattanooga edged Wayne (Wayne, OK), 11-3, in a non-league challenge.
