In Tuesday's non-league challenge, the visiting Heritage Pioneers volleyball team scored a close 3-2 triumph over the Nelson County Governors.

The Pioneers (1-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Halifax County (South Boston, VA). The Comets come into the non-league challenge with a 0-1 record. In their last challenge, Halifax County was nudged by Dan River (Ringgold, VA), 3-0, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Governors meet the Amherst County Lancers (Amherst, VA) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, August 29. Nelson County will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record. The Lancers come into the challenge with a 0-1 record after their 3-0 non-league loss to Appomattox County (Appomattox, VA).
