Spectators at Thursday's league match between the Franklin County Lions (Carnesville, GA) and the host Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes (Monroe, GA), witnessed Franklin County's softball squad tip Monroe Area by a count of 6-1.

The Lions now sport a 10-5 record. They play next when they travel to Oconee County for a 3A Region 8 match on Tuesday, September 6. Franklin County will meet a Warriors squad coming off a 13-8 non-league loss to Social Circle (Social Circle, GA). The Warriors record now stands at 4-8.

With the loss, Monroe Area moves to 4-6 on the season. The Purple hurricanes host Hart County (Hartwell, GA) to meet the Bulldogs in a 3A Region 8 match on Tuesday, September 6. The Bulldogs go into the match with a record of 6-2. Hart County lost 6-5 in their recent league match against Hebron Christian Academy (Dacula, GA)
