Delta Panthers (Delta, CO) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Montezuma-Cortez Panthers (Cortez, CO), 9-2 in a league challenge.

The Panthers now sport a 4-3 record. They take the field next when they host Basalt for a 3A Western Slope challenge on Saturday, September 2. Delta will face a Longhorns squad coming off a 21-1 non-league loss to Rifle (Rifle, CO). The Longhorns record now stands at 0-1.

With the loss, Montezuma-Cortez falls to 4-4 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Poudre (Fort Collins, CO) to face the Impalas in a non-league challenge on Friday, September 8. The Impalas enter the challenge with a record of 1-4.
