Fans at Thursday's non-league contest between the Laurel Golden Tornadoes (Laurel, MS) and the host Taylorsville Tartars (Taylorsville, MS), observed Laurel's volleyball team top Taylorsville by a count of 3-0.

The Golden Tornadoes (4-8) will now prepare for their battle against Brookhaven (Brookhaven, MS). The Panthers go into the Class 5A Region 3 battle with a 4-14 record. In their last battle, Brookhaven dropped by Lawrence County (Monticello, MS), 3-0, in a non-league battle.

The Tartars now own a 1-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Salem for a Class 1A Region 7 battle on Tuesday, September 16.
