Fans at Thursday's league battle between the North Marion Huskies (Aurora, OR) and the host Newport Cubs (Newport, OR), saw North Marion's soccer squad hold off Newport by a count of 1-0.

The Huskies (5-0) will now prepare for their battle against Cascade (Turner, OR). The Cougars enter the 4A Oregon West battle with a 1-4 record. In their last battle, Cascade was edged by Stayton (Stayton, OR), 8-0, in a league battle.

Next up, the Cubs battle the Tillamook Cheesemakers (Tillamook, OR) in a non-league battle, on Friday, September 27. Newport will attempt to upgrade on its 1-3 season record. The Cheesemakers enter the battle with a 2-2 record after their 6-2 league win over St. Helens (St. Helens, OR).
