Merritt Oilers (Elk City, OK) supporters left the game pleased Friday as they saw their softball squad nudge the host Hinton Comets (Hinton, OK), 4-3 in a league game.

With the triumph, Merritt improves its record to 19-13 on the year. The Oilers travel to Preston (Preston, OK) to play the Pirates in a 2A game on Thursday, October 3. The Pirates enter the game with a record of 30-5. Preston lost 3-2 in their recent non-league game against Muskogee (Muskogee, OK)

The Comets now hold a 26-5 record. They play next when they host Fairview for a 2A game on Friday, September 27. Hinton will play a Yellowjackets squad coming off a 15-1 league win over Meeker (Meeker, OK). The Yellowjackets record now stands at 8-14.
