The Wilmington Wildcats (Wilmington, IL) volleyball were winner over the visiting Coal City Coalers (Coal City, IL), 2-0 in Thursday's league outing.

With the win, Wilmington betters its record to 10-1 on the year. The Wildcats travel to Lisle (Lisle, IL) to face the Lions in a Illinois Central Eight outing on Tuesday, September 12. The Lions go into the outing with a record of 2-11. Lisle lost 2-1 in their recent league outing against Manteno (Manteno, IL)

The Coalers now sport a 7-7 record. They play next when they host Herscher for a Illinois Central Eight outing on Tuesday, September 12. Coal City will face a Tigers squad coming off a 2-1 league win over Reed-Custer (Braidwood, IL). The Tigers record now stands at 4-7.

The Lady Wildcats Varsity Volleyball Team took over leading the conference with the win over the Lady Coalers in Thursday night's volleyball action. The Lady Cats (10-1 overall, 4-0 conference) won in an exciting 2 game series: 25-19, 31-29. It was a stellar performance offensively and defensively. Lexi Liaromatis led with 10 digs?and 15 serve receive passes. Close behind her was Emma Grace Strong with 8 digs?to go along with her 14 assists, 2 attacks and an ace. In the front row, Rachel Smith and Reese Van Duyne led with 6 and 5 attacks respectively. Smith also had 3 blocks and then 8 digs and an ace in the back row. Middle blocker Alyssa Johnston had a great game with 2 attacks, 2 blocks, and 4 digs.
