Brighton is 0-4 against Riverdale Ridge since August of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Ravens at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Brighton barely beat Prairie View the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Thunderhawks 14-5 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Laikyn Lanzen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Lanzen was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Brighton got a massive performance out of Valeria Rojo, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Rojo has posted since back in September. Sumi Mizunaga was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Brighton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They are 11-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Riverdale Ridge waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Wolves. That's two games straight that the Ravens have won by exactly ten runs.
Peyton Saenz was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jerzi McArthur, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.
Brighton's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Riverdale Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 16-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Brighton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Riverdale Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
