Football Recap: Greenbrier West Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Greenbrier West had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 67-16 loss at the hands of the Roane County Raiders. The Cavaliers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-8.

Koltyn Starcher was a one-man wrecking crew For Roane County. as he rushed for 98 yards and three scores on only seven carries. Those 98 rushing yards gave Starcher a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Greathouse, who rushed for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries.

Greenbrier West and Roane County will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Cavaliers will face off against rival Summers County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Roane County is set to square off against their familiar foe Clay County at 7:30 p.m. on September 12.
