High school football rankings: No. 11 Austin Westlake has 50-game win streak, leads three MaxPreps Top 25 teams into Texas 6A Division 1 postseason

No. 11 Westlake (Austin, Texas), owner of the longest win streak in the nation, is among three Texas high school football teams in the MaxPreps Top 25 headed into the 6A Division 1 playoffs. The Chaparrals have the nation-best 50-game win streak, taking over after Bixby's (Okla.) streak came to an end at 58 with a 38-35 loss to Jenks (Okla.).

The Chaparrals have won every game by double digits this season and have outscored the opposition 535-98. They have won three consecutive state titles, they won 6A Division 2 in 2019 and 2021 and 6A Division 1 in 2020. They open the postseason Thursday against Cedar Ridge (Round Rock).

The defending 6A Division 1 state champs — No. 9 North Shore (Houston) — have won 23 games in a row and face Dobie (Houston) in the opening round on Thursday. No. 14 Duncanville is the third MaxPreps Top 25 team included in the 6A D1 bracket and take on Bryan on Thursday.

No. 15 Guyer (Texas) and No. 19 Katy are both in the 6A Division 2 bracket. Jackson Arnold and the Wildcats open up against Marcus (Flower Mound) on Thursday. Seth Davis and the Tigers take on Fort Bend Clements (Sugar Land) on Friday.

The Georgia playoffs get underway this week.

No. 6 Buford, No. 21 Mill Creek (Hoschton) and No. 23 Colquitt County (Moultrie) are all in the 32-team field in AAAAAAA.

No. 20 Langston Hughes (Fairburn) is in AAAAAA. Last year's state runner-up has won every game by at least 26 points and outscored the opposition 533-96 this season.

The CIF Southern Section Division 1 quarterfinals are this week.

No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) hosts JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano), No. 4 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) hosts Orange Lutheran (Orange), No. 13 Centennial (Corona) hosts Mission Viejo (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and No. 22 Long Beach Poly (Long Beach) plays at Los Alamitos. All games are on Friday.
