The NFC
Championship matchup between the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia
Eagles at Lincoln Financial Stadium on Sunday will feature nearly double
the amount of five-star recruits as last year's conference championship
game.
The San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions combined for six while
this year's features 10.
Jalen Carter,
Nolan Smith and Josh Sweat headline the six five-stars from the Eagles.
Smith was the No. 1 overall recruit in the Class of 2019 according to
247Sports.
Nakobe Dean and
Brandon Graham would have given Philadelphia eight five-stars but are not included because they are not on the active roster due to injury.
Kelee
Ringo, Will Shipley and Eli Ricks were the other three five-star
recruits. Ringo and Ricks were the top-rated cornerbacks in the
Class of 2020.
Dante Fowler Jr., Daron
Payne, Jonathan Allen and Jeff Driskel were the four five-stars on the
Commanders. Allen was the highest-rated Commander as the No. 15 player
overall in the Class of 2013.
The starting quarterbacks headline a combined 34 four-star recruits coming out of high school.
Jalen
Hurts was the No. 175 player overall in the Class of 2016. He accounted
for 7,271 yards of total offense (4,929 passing, 2,342 rushing) and 91
touchdowns over his final two years while playing for his father Averion
Hurts at
Channelview (Texas).
Jayden Daniels is the all-time passing leader in CIF Southern Section history as he finished with 13,827 yards at
Cajon (San Bernardino, Calif.). He also owns the CIF Southern Section record with 170 passing touchdowns.
Saquon
Barkley, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Landon Dickerson, C.J.
Gardner-Johnson and Cooper DeJean headline the other 19 former
four-stars on the Eagles.
Terry McLaurin,
Brian Robinson Jr., Zach Ertz, Dyami Brown and Marshon Lattimore were
some of the other notable 15 four-stars on the Commanders.
