Softball Recap: Northglenn Comes Up Short

Northglenn made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Brighton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Norsemen fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 7-5 on Thursday.

Jocelyn Evans was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Claire Wolford made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Hendrick, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Northglenn has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Brighton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-6.

Looking ahead, Northglenn will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Riverdale Ridge at 10:00 a.m. The Norsemen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ravens have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season. As for Brighton, they will head out to square off against Centaurus at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
