Elgin posted their closest win since October 9, 2024 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Guthrie Bluejays, sneaking past 7-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Owls.

Kelby Carter was excellent, earning two RBI and two runs. Ella Melton was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Elgin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Elgin's record now sits at 10-4. As for Guthrie, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Elgin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Piedmont on the 29th. As for Guthrie, they have also already played their next match, a 1-0 loss against Bridge Creek on the 29th.
