Softball Recap: Jordan Comes Up Short

Jordan extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 4-8. They lost 19-2 to the Marion County Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Jackets of the 16-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2023.

As for Marion County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-4. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Marion County's part, Taylor O'Neal made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, O'Neal posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in August. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Taner Tyler and Haleigh Frazier did most of the damage at the plate: Tyler went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Frazier went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four RBI gave Tyler a new career-high. Kinsley Barrow was another key player, earning two RBI and three runs.

While Jordan had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
