Baseball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello was the 6-2 winner over Mahomet-Seymour when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sages fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Sages have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 27-5. As for Mahomet-Seymour, they pushed their record up to 23-6 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Monticello will head out to face off against Olympia at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mahomet-Seymour, they will face off against Bloomington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Purple Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.07 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
