Baseball Recap: Marian Catholic Comes Up Short

Marian Catholic lost to Niles Notre Dame on Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Spartans fell just short of the Dons by a score of 8-7. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jazarris Mackmore made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. He has become a key player for Marian Catholic: the team is 7-3 when he posts at least one home run, but 10-13 otherwise.

Marian Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 17-16. As for Niles Notre Dame, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marian Catholic will square off against Rich Township at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Raptors have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for Niles Notre Dame, they will face off against Lake Forest at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
