Baseball Recap: Coventry Oakers vs. Barrington Eagles
Coventry lost to Barrington back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Oakers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 5-4. The Oakers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.
Coventry handed starting duties to Ryan Pina, who gave a strong showing despite the result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits.
On the hitting side, Riley Wheeler and Griffin Frenze did some serious damage despite the final result: Wheeler went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Frenze went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Frenze's first of the season.
Coventry's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Barrington, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-7 record.
Coventry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Barrington, they will welcome Moses Brown/EP/Tolman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
