Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Sterling's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Sterling got themselves on the board against The Academy on Saturday, but The Academy never followed suit. They blew past the Wildcats 13-0. Considering the Tigers have won 11 games by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Emerson Ross made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Ross was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makenzie Beck, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Kenzie King was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Sterling always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Academy only posted an OBP of .333.

Sterling has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for The Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-13.

As of now, neither Sterling nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
