Baseball Preview: Morrison Mustangs vs. Oregon Hawks
The Morrison Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Oregon Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Morrison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Morrison after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 11-6 to River Ridge/Scales Mound. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brayden Rubright stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was his first of the season. Carson White was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Oregon not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 15-1). They put the hurt on Stillman Valley with a sharp 10-2 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hawks as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Morrison's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Oregon, their win bumped their record up to 5-18-1.
