Football Recap: Mercer Island Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Mercer Island had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-4 to make it four. They received a blow as they fell 50-31 to the Inglemoor Vikings. The Islanders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Mercer Island saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kainoa Brown rushed for 23 yards and three scores, and also picked up 149 receiving yards.

As for Inglemoor, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Peyton Mrsny, who rushed for 198 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Another player making a difference was Hudson Cowan, who threw for 186 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight passes.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercer Island will face off against Redmond at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Inglemoor, they will square off against Renton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will be up against the Red Hawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
