Baseball Recap: Lake Forest Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Lake Forest ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Wauconda Bulldogs 13-12. The victory was nothing new for the Scouts as they're now sitting on three straight.

Henry Burke and Charlie Quick did most of the damage at the plate: Burke went 3-for-6 with four RBI and one run, while Quick got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs and one double. Those four RBI gave Burke a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nate Brezak, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

Lake Forest's record now sits at 24-5. As for Wauconda, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Forest will venture away from home to square off against Mundelein at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Scouts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Wauconda, they will head out to face off against Deerfield at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
