Baseball Recap: Valwood Extends Winning Streak to Four

Valwood had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Brookwood on Tuesday. The Valiants put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 13-3 win. Considering the Valiants have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Camden Crump spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dax Womack was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dywan Powell, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Valwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory (which was Valwood's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Brookwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-14.

Valwood will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
