Basketball Recap: San Luis Takes a Loss

San Luis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were beaten by the Cibola Raiders 66-8. The Sidewinders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-3.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Camila Picaso and Allyson Berrelleza, who each put up three points. Ana Ruiz held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Leading Cibola to victory were Jaida Bosch and Mariana Vega. Bosch went 8 of 15 en route to 21 points and six steals, while Vega dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Vega is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last 20 games she's played. Avianna Salcedo was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

San Luis' loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Cibola, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Gila Ridge the next time they take the court. San Luis will head out to face Gila Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Cibola will host them at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th.
