Football Recap: Texico Starts Season with Loss on the Road + How To Watch

Texico had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 22-15 to the Santa Rosa Lions. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Texico lost, don't look at Jett Curtis. Despite the final result, he rushed for 109 yards and one TD on only seven carries. Curtis really tore up the turf during one magnificent 91-yard run.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Josh Cordova and David Chavez. Cordova rushed for 100 yards and a pair of scores while Chavez rushed for 132 yards and one touchdown.

Texico will welcome Bovina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Santa Rosa, they will venture away from home to take on Jal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
