Volleyball Recap: Rachel Hoerig Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Homestead

Brookfield Central won the last time they faced Homestead and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lancers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Highlanders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lancers have posted since October 12, 2024.

Brookfield Central had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-22, 15-12.

Brookfield Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rachel Hoerig, who had nine digs and two assists. Those two assists gave Hoerig a new career-high.

The victory got Brookfield Central back to even at 2-2. As for Homestead, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coincidentally, Brookfield Central and Homestead will both be playing Wauwatosa East the next time they take the court. The Highlanders will head out to face the Red Raiders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Lancers will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
