Longest active high school football win streak in every state

By Kevin Askeland Aug 20, 2025, 11:30am

Marion Local of Ohio enters the 2025 season riding a 64-game string of victories.

A total of 54 teams have win streaks of 15 or more games heading into the 2025 high school football season, including record-breaking streaks by Marion Local (Maria Stein, Ohio) and Sheridan (Wyo.).

Marion Local broke the Ohio state record last year and now have 64 straight wins to lead the nation. The Flyers have put together four straight 16-0 seasons and the current streak is tied for 19th all-time. Another 16-win season would put the program at No. 4 all-time among win streaks (sixth for unbeaten streaks).

Sheridan broke the Wyoming state record last year and has 43 wins in a row. That total ranks No. 5 on the list of active win streaks.

Four other teams on the list have a chance to break the record in their state. Garden City (N.Y.), with 54 wins, needs just nine wins to break the record of 62 in a row by Maine-Endwell (Endwell). Meanwhile Phoebus (Hampton, Va.) has 48 wins in a row and needs five to break the state record of 52 by Riverheads (Staunton).

Washington (Okla.) has 44 wins in a row and would need to go 14-0 to tie the state record of 58 held by Bixby. Meanwhile Norfolk Catholic (Norfolk, Neb.) needs 10 wins to beat the record of Cambridge.

Along with the active win streaks leaders with 15 or more wins, MaxPreps has listed the win streak leader in each state along with the state record. Win streaks for 9-man, 8-man and 6-man football are also listed.
